Shazam, With the debut of the Shazam! trailer, lightning strikes! the world premiere of Fury of the Gods at Comic-Con International.
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Shazam in accordance with the actor Zachary Levi’s promise. In connection with its Hall H presentation at the San Diego Comic-Con International, Fury of the Gods
The sequel takes a different route than the 2019 prequel, which closed off with a mid-credits hint of the iconic villain Mister Mind (a super-intelligent caterpillar).
Fury of the Gods adds several classical gods, or at least the progeny of one, as suggested by the film’s title. Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu join the cast as Hespera and Kalypso, daughters of Atlas who provide Shazam with part of his strength. (Atlas is represented by the first “A” in Shazam.)
Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman appearance was confirmed in footage shown in April at CinemaCon 2022. Superman made a cameo appearance in the Justice League in the 2019 movie. However, Henry Cavill did not play the Man of Steel, thus viewers never get to see his face.
Fury of the Gods is “a considerably larger movie than the previous one,” according to returning director David F. Sandberg. He said, “There’s so much things that I can’t wait for people to see. “I really hope a lot of it made it into the trailer. I don’t even mind giving away any surprises; I simply want to showcase our animals, action, etc.”
Which actors will be back in Shazam! wrath of the gods
Returning actors Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddie Freeman, and Djimon Hounsou as the wizard Shazam join Levi in the sequel. The cast also includes Ian Chen, Ross Butler, Jovan Armand, and D.J. Cotrona as foster brothers Eugene Choi and Pedro Pena, as well as Marta Milans and Cooper Andrews as his foster parents Rosa and Victor Vasquez. Faithe Herman and Meagan Good play Billy’s foster sister Darla Dudley and her adult, superhero form. Grace Fulton plays foster sister Mary Bromfield.
Shazam! Originally scheduled for release on December 16, Fury of the Gods was postponed to December 21 in order to avoid competing directly with James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water. When the revised date was revealed in April, Sandberg joked, “You’re welcome, Cameron!
Shazam!, the most humorous film in the DC Extended Universe at the time of its 2018 release, made $366 million, much above its projected $235 million to $250 million break-even figure. The movie earned tremendously favorable reviews and continues to have a 90% critics’ approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Shazam! Bounce Artcle! DC Unveils Official Trailer For “Fury Of The Gods” At SDCC
The official trailer for the forthcoming DC film Shazam: Fury of the Gods, a follow-up to the 2019 DC film Shazam! starring Zachary Levi in the title character, was released during the San Diego Comic-Con weekend. The first film, which was released in April 2019, won plaudits for offering a new perspective on the DC Extended Universe. The film’s $366 million worldwide box office take exceeded the $80-100 million production budget, and WB and DC decided to go through with the sequel as a result.
Henry Gayden, the first film’s writer, collaborated with Chris Morgan, a well-known author of the Fast & Furious series, to create the sequel, which is once again being directed by David F. Sandberg. Both Asher Angel and Zachary Levi reprise their roles as the movie’s eponymous superhero and Billy Batson, respectively. Prior to being pushed forward to December 2022, the film’s original release date was scheduled for June 2023. The official trailer was unveiled during a panel that just took place in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con!
Freddy Freeman is played once again by Jack Dylan Grazer, while Shazam, the legendary magician, is played once more by Djimon Hounsou. While Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu joined the cast as Hespera and Kalypso, daughters of Atlas, who are expected to be the major villainesses of the sequel, Rachel Zegler, a West Side Story actress, joined in an unannounced role.
Following the failure of the Snyderverse concept and the Marvel-style shared universe construction, the DC Extended Universe is still attempting to find its footing. The 2017 film Justice League’s theatrical release was a financial disaster, and despite the director’s cut of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which fans have been clamoring for since since ZSJL was made available on HBOMax, WB has no plans to Restore the Snyderverse.
WB is now concentrating on solo films and is looking to The Flash, which comes out in 2019, to transform the DCEU into a shared world. Prior to the Shazam! sequel, the Dwayne Johnson film Black Adam is scheduled for release in October. At some point, most likely in the third Shazam film, there will be a crossover between Levi’s Shazam and Johnson’s Black Adam. Given that Fury of the Gods will be released only five days after James Cameron’s sci-fi blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water, which will undoubtedly dominate the box office, we can only hope that it will be profitable enough to warrant a sequel.
